NEW YORK: The Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar Ul Haq Kakar held a meeting with the Managing Director of International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva in New York on the sidelines of 78th UN General Assembly Session on Wednesday afternoon.

The prime minister expressed gratitude for the IMF’s approval of a US$ 3 billion Stand-By Agreement (SBA) to support Pakistan’s economy. He briefed the her on various measures taken by the government of Pakistan to stabilize and revive the Country’s economy.MD IMF lauds Pakistan’s concerted efforts in implementing policies & reforms to revive economy

Anwaar Ul Haq Kakar affirmed that these initiatives aim to create a stable and conducive environment for sustainable economic growth and investment. Additionally, a strong focus had been placed on protecting the vulnerable segments of society.

The MD IMF Kristalina Georgieva appreciated Pakistan’s concerted efforts in implementing policies and reforms to revive the economy. She assured that the IMF remained committed to continued engagement with Pakistan.

Separately, the Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar Ul Haq Haq Kakar also met the Co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Bill Gates to discuss polio eradication, gender equality, nutrition, and financial inclusion.

Kakar also held a bilateral meeting with the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and exchanged views on deepening bilateral cooperation in a range of areas including political, trade, economic, security, defence, and connectivity.
