Islamabad, Pakistan: Unprecedented crackdown against corrupt officials of WAPDA by Interim government continues as 1900 plus top officials reshuffled.
It is a known but not a secret that collusion networks are the basis of power theft that is over 17 percent and to cost of power theft is transferred to consumers.
According to available data, 248 officers with jet-black integrity have been restricted to the headquarters while reshuffled remaining 1900 plus SEs, XENs, and SDOs across the country without considering their political and social backgrounds. Such a crackdown is unprecedented in the history of Pakistan against the power theft network of the country.
Insiders in the Ministry of Water and Power confirm that the crackdown is just beginning and it will become much more relentless and unforgiving in every passing day. Over 2000 cases of electricity theft worth 4 million units have been detected and 21 top thieves have been arrested while Rs.164 million imposed as fines and Rs.11 million have already been recovered.
These immediate positive results indicate that the system already knows who is doing what and it is just the will to fix things and address the burden faced by law-abiding consumers who pay for the theft.
