KARACHI: Mutahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has rejected restoration of 1979’s local bodies system in Sindh but the PPP is supporting it fully.

Sindh government has announced restoration of 1979’s local bodies system fully in the province and it has created unrest in political scenario here as ruling party members are supporting it with force while the opposition members especially MQM members are opposing it.

Sindh Law Minister, Dr. Sikandar Mendhro, said while supporting restoration of 1979’s system that there is always a provision available for change of system.

The MQM is criticizing restoration of local bodies system in Sindh sternly and its MPA Khawaja Izhar-ul-Hassan has said that his party rejects it completely.

The MQM Rabta Committee held a press conference in Karachi and rejected restoration of 1979’s local bodies system, saying this system would not reduce miseries of the people.

Member MQM Rabta Committee Kunwar Naveed Jamil said in the press conference that all key cities in Sindh including Karachi, Hyderabad, and Nawab Shah have turned into garbage dumps, as local bodies’ institutes have no money to provide fuel to garbage collecting vehicles.
