ISLAMABAD: Pakistan: The Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Central Secretary General Asad Umar said that the PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s statement pertaining to the appointment of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) has already been clarified, as there was never an intent to cause harm to the reputation of the institution or its senior leadership.

In a statement on Monday, Asad Umar said that the PTI and its Chairman Imran Khan have always fully appreciated the professionalism and sacrifices of the army personnel.

Asad Umar further said that the emphasis on upholding the principle of merit was consistent with the desire to protect the professionalism of the force which provided security to the nation.

“The context of statement given by the Chairman PTI in Faisalabad Jalsa (public gathering) regarding the appointment of the Army Chief has already been clarified earlier. There was never an intent to cause harm to the reputation of the institution or its senior leadership,” Asad Umar said.
