ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that the time has come for Pakistan and Turkey to leverage their excellent bonds to upgrade their bilateral relations.

In a statement on Tuesday before departing for his maiden three-day visit to Turkey as the prime minister, Shahbaz Sharif said that the era of regional connectivity, shared development, and common destiny calls for a fresh approach.

“Look forward to discussing this with my brother Recep Tayyip Erdoğan,” he wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif accompanied by Federal Ministers Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Marriam Aurangzeb, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, and Special Assistants Fahad Hussain and Tariq Fatemi left for Turkey.

It is his first visit to Turkey after assuming the premiership.

The Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is also present in Turkey.

During his stay in Turkey from May 31 to June 02, the prime minister will discuss the entire gamut of Pakistan-Turkey bilateral relations as well as exchange views on regional and international issues with the Turkish leadership.

Shahbaz Sharif will also attend a Pakistan-Turkey Business Council Forum and have extensive interaction with leading Turkish businessmen and potential investors from diverse sectors.
