ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb has said that the government believes in freedom of expression and will take all possible steps for the welfare of media houses, organizations and the journalist community.

In his remarks upon her arrival at the Ministry of Information in Islamabad on Tuesday to take charge of her office, she said that the social media will be fully activated to highlight the positive image of the Country and those who spread negative propaganda against the state and its institutions will be dealt with iron hands.

Marriyum Aurangzeb said that the role of the Information Ministry is crucial for the promotion of important development projects of the government.

The information minister said that the government will also take all possible steps for promotion of drama and film industry.

The minister said all the important wings of the ministry including PTV and APP have a huge responsibility for dissemination of accurate and authentic information to the people in the current political and economic situation of the Country.

Earlier on her arrival at the Ministry of Information in Islamabad, she was warmly welcomed by the Information Secretary Shahera Shahid, the Director General (DG) Radio Pakistan Muhammad Asim Khichi and other senior officials, and was briefed regarding the affairs of the ministry.
