ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has congratulated Justice Ayesha Malik on becoming the first woman judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan:

“I wish her all the best,” the prime minister said in a Twitter statement on Monday.

Earlier in the morning, the Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Gulzar Ahmed administered the oath of office to Justice Ayesha Malik of the Lahore High Court (LHC) as the Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan at a simple and dignified ceremony in Islamabad.

The Judges of the Supreme Court of Pakistan, the Attorney General for Pakistan, Senior Lawyers, Law Officers, and Officers of the Law & Justice Commission of Pakistan attended the ceremony.

The Registrar Supreme Court of Pakistan conducted the proceedings of the oath taking ceremony.

Officers and staff of the Supreme Court of Pakistan were also present on the occasion.
