ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that it has been in close contact with the Pakistan Embassy in protest-hit Kazakhstan with a view to providing all possible assistance to the Pakistani Community residing there.

In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry said that the Embassy has reported that all Pakistanis in Kazakhstan are safe.

The unrest broke out in the Central Asian State of Kazakhstan on Sunday as a result of anti-government demonstrations triggered by rising fuel prices.

In Kazakhstan, so far dozens of people including citizens and police officers have reportedly been killed and further hundreds have been injured.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry said that the Pakistan Embassy has established “Help Desks” in Nursultan and Almaty to facilitate Pakistanis requiring emergency services (http://pakembkazakhstan.org/).

The Ministry said that all Pakistanis living in Kazakhstan have been advised to restrict unnecessary movement and remain in close contact with the Embassy in case of any emergency.
