ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Muslim Youth University (MYU) for collaboration on skills development in diverse fields, jointly establishing the Center for Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Studies, Chinese Language Initiative and creating academic excellence in areas of mutual interest.

The MoU will strive to boost research and academic exchanges to enhance and facilitate collaboration between the academic social sciences faculties of the two institutes.

It will enable the two sides to create a lucrative environment for education and research exchange at the national and international levels.

Moreover, the Center will inculcate bilateral cooperation in Knowledge Sharing, Research-and-Development, and Capacity Building in domains of Social Sciences, International Relations (IR), and Diplomacy mutually to benefit both organizations.

Launched in 2017, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Studies Centre is an initiative of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies.

The Center was established when Pakistan assumed full membership of SCO with the purpose of promoting the “Shanghai Spirit” – the core value of the SCO featuring mutual trust, respect, equality, respect for diverse civilizations, and pursuit for shared development along with prosperity through Research, Education, Dialogue, and Training.

The SCO Studies Centre is nurturing the core values of 9 Es of PSCOFF through exploring deep-rooted linkages within the SCO member countries and benefiting Pakistan and its citizens through “Connecting People and Providing Opportunities”.

The SCO Studies Centre embodies the core values of the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies and is meant to provide, Action Research, Advocacy, Education and Trainings, and Consultancy services in the thematic areas for diverse groups of communities from across the region and in Pakistan.

In that regard, the IPDS has also arranged diploma and certificate courses at the center along with publishing books and monographs.

The Muslim Youth University (MYU) is a federally chartered university in Islamabad, Pakistan. It aims to prepare enterprising individuals for the socio-economic growth of society.

The MYU works with the vision of undertaking meaningful research, education, and innovation for an inclusive society.

The Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies (IPDS) established in June 2014 is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit research, advocacy, and Public Diplomacy Think and Do Tank.

The aim of IPDS is to impart strength to Pakistan’s efficacious role in global diplomacy through creative research, dialogues series, education modules, effectual advocacy, consultancy services, well-built & knitted public diplomacy initiatives, and engagements in the thematic dimensions of Peace and Diplomatic Studies.

The MoU between the two institutions was signed by the founder President Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies Farhat Asif and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Muslim Youth University Dr. Hassan Wasim.

The Director of the IPDS Asif Noor and the Registrar of the MYU was also present on the occasion.
