QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister-elect Dr. Abdul Malik Baloch on Sunday laid down priorities of his government in the restive province.
In his maiden address on the floor of Balochistan Assembly after being elected as Chief Minister, he said the mutilated dead bodies, law and order, missing persons and kidnapping for ransom government remain major issues of the province.
There is no room for corruption now, he said, adding he would not avail a single penny from the secret fund. “We cannot make a joke of ourselves. It is our collective responsibility to work together,” he said.
He also thanked PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif, PKMAP head Mahmood Achakzai and other parties for their support in his election as Balochistan’s chief minister.
The new CM vowed to launch a crackdown on mining and land mafia operating in the province. He said that he would talk to all stakeholders and invited angry Balochs to talks.
Dr Baloch added that it was his government’s responsibility to protect the minorities as well as Hazara settlers. The chief minister also pledged to include mother languages in educational curriculum.
