Pakistan records third death of Coronavirus

KARACHI, Pakistan: Another patient of Coronavirus (COVID-19) has lost his life at a Private Hospital in Karachi, taking the tally of the deaths of the virus-infected patients to three across the Country.

In a statement, the Sindh Health Minister Dr Azra Fazal Pechuho said that the diseased was a 77-year-old man from Karachi, and he had already been battling with carcinoma, diabetes and hypertension.

The minister said that the provincial authorities have been reaching out to maximum number of people; therefore, the province has so far detected most number of Coronavirus Cases.

Earlier, two COVID-19 patients – aged 50 and 36 – also died of the infectious disease in Peshawar and Mardan.

It was the first death of the epidemic in Sindh province wherein the number of virus-infected patients has reached 238. Of them, 234 are under treatment in Quarantine Centers, three have been cured while one has died.

A total of 464 Coronavirus Cases have so far surfaced in Pakistan, of which 238 have been detected in Sindh, 81 in Balochistan, 96 in Punjab, 23 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 24 in Gilgit-Baltistan & Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), and 2 in the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT).

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan will preside over the National Coordination Committee (NCC) in Islamabad today to discuss the latest situation arising out of the Coronavirus.

The NCC meeting will also review the implementation of the decisions taken earlier at the National Security Committee (NSC) meeting held on March 13.
