LAHORE, Pakistan: The annual Alumni Dinner of the Department of Philosophy at GC University (GCU) in Lahore will be held on February 7, 2020.

Organized by the Oldest Society of the GC University “Brett Philosophical Society”, the Alumni Dinner will take place at Bokhari Lawns of the GCU from 07:00 pm to 11:00 pm to honour the luminaries and enabling them to enjoy reunion.

The GCU Philosophy Department was established on March 24, 1868 and it cherishes the rare distinction of being not only the oldest Postgraduate Department of the University but also of being the Alma Mater of Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal, the poet philosopher of Pakistan.

Since its inception in 1868, eminent thinkers and teachers like Thomas Arnold, Dr Muhammad lqbal, S. G. Brett, L.P. Saunders and G. N. Chatterji had been contributing to its academic development.

The Department of Philosophy has a strong practice of quality research. Even today the department is carrying forward this practice with vigour and enthusiasm.

The department offers two programmes; BA (Hons.) Philosophy and M.Phil Philosophy.

It’s worth noting that the Government College (GC) was established in 1861 and earned the University Status in 2002 which eventually led to its renaming as GC University.
