ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Cabinet met in Islamabad on Tuesday with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Chair, and accorded its approval in principle to the ‘Christian Marriage and Divorce Bill’ as per religious norms and following of the Christian community.
While briefing the media representatives at the Press Information Department (PID) about the meeting, the Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan told that he Federal Cabinet also gave an approval for the bill against domestic violence and protection of women.

Dr Firdous told that the Cabinet also approved the Pak-Turkey Strategic Economic Framework to forge stronger cooperation between the two Countries. She said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will head the high-level Cooperation Committee from Pakistan side while the Turkish side will be headed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
The Special Assistant told that the framework has nine-joint working groups that will be headed by the Minister of Economic Affairs from Pakistan side. She said that all sectors of the economy will be covered by joint working groups and 71 actionable items including free trade agreement, technology transfer, capacity building, and defense cooperation have been included in these.
In addition, she said that the Cabinet also took into consideration the investment friendly policies to encourage foreign investors, especially overseas Pakistanis. She said that the Cabinet discussed measures to give confidence to businessmen and to ensure business friendly environment.
The Special Assistant further said that the Federal Cabinet also accorded approval of Rs five billion to give interest free loans to poor and homeless people.
