ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant on Information and Broadcasting Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan has said that strengthening the media workers is imperative for a stable Pakistan.

In her address at a ceremony held in Islamabad on Wednesday to distribute Ramadan Package among the media workers, the special assistant said that protection of rights of media workers is top priority of the incumbent government.

Dr Firdous Ashiq Awan said that the media workers are the nucleus of media as their role is very important in the media sector.

The special assistant said that the government is committed to protect the rights of media workers through establishing a special mechanism. In this regard, she added that, we are taking steps like Employees’ Old-Age Benefits Institution and social security.

Furthermore, she said that the communication gap between the media owners and workers needs to be filled to address the facing challenges in the media.

Later, Firdous Ashiq Awan also distributed Ramadan Packages among the media workers.
