ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Minister for Federal Education Shafqat Mahmood has said that the federal government is working in consonance with the provincial governments to upgrade education according to market needs.

In his address at a function in Islamabad on Wednesday, the minister said that reforms are underway to bring education system in sync with market requirements.

Shafqat Mahmood said that his ministry has already established linkages with the Chambers of Commerce and Industry for the purpose.

The minister said that the annual development plan is being worked out to ensure imparting of training to more and more people in different skills.

The minister for federal education said that training institutes throughout the Country will be converted into Centers of Excellence to boost their performance. In this connection, he added, that five Centers of Excellence will be set up in all the provinces.

Shafqat Mahmood said that a National Skill University is also being set up and its charter has already been worked out.

Besides, he said that a Centre of Hospitality is being established with the cooperation of Turkey to promote tourism sector.
