Elections 2013Election results would not be acceptable under current situation; says Mian Iftikhar

PESHAWAR: Former information minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Mian Iftikhar Hussain said on Saturday that May 11 polls results would not be acceptable under the current law and order situation.

The interim government and the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had completely failed, and had been unable to deliver a security plan since the past one and a half months, the former provincial minister said in a press conference at the Bacha Khan centre in Peshawar.

The Awami National Party (ANP) leader said that his party candidates were being targeted.

“If there are no election candidates left, then who will they provide security to on Election Day?” remarked Hussain.

Hussain said that the ANP were being stopped from electioneering to pave the way for the terrorists and their accomplices. The ANP leader said that he was unable to visit his own constituency due to security threats.
