Asad Umar said the industrial sector had an important role in the economy, and steps were being taken to address their problems including those relating to energy.

The minister said the businesses and investors would be fully facilitated to bolster the Country’s exports. He also assured that a simplified procedure of tax returns for individuals and entrepreneurs would be introduced in the current year.

The finance minister said they would also recognize the top taxpayers, and a Ceremony in that regard to be chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan would be held to encourage the people to come in the tax net.

Moreover, he said Special Economic Zones (SEZs) would be set up under the multi-billion dollars China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. He said the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) at its meeting on February 5 would deliberate upon early operationalization of those SEZs.
