ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Federal Minister for Finance Asad Umar has said that no society can ever progress unless it is purged of corruption.

In his address at a function held in Islamabad on Thursday, the finance minister said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is committed to ensure good governance and eradicate corruption from the society.

Asad Umar said that no society can survive when its institutions are plagued with menace of corruption and mismanagement.

The minister said that the people want accountability of the corrupt people and recovery of looted money from them.

The finance minister said that Prime Minister Imran Khan is showing zero tolerance in respect of corruption and has given clear directions to all his Cabinet members to bring about a visible change and strengthen all institutions.

Asad Umar ruled out any Amnesty Scheme, and again reiterated the resolve to improve the taxation system. He said that it is imperative to end the fiscal deficit for the economic growth.

Furthermore, he said that the provision of justice is among top priorities of the PTI government.
