ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that Pakistan Railways is a transport system for the poor people, and directed the Federal Minister for Railways Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed to ensure initiatives for its further improvement.

Talking to the railways minister who held a meeting with him at his Chamber in National Assembly, the prime minister lauded steps being taken to improve Pakistan Railways.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on matters pertaining to the Railways ministry.

The Prime Minister’s Special Assistant for Political Affairs Naeemul Haq was also present in the meeting.

It is worth mentioning here that the Railways Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed while inaugurating the Lahore-Faisalabad non-stop train on Monday voiced the commitment to run 100 new trains in the Country within 100 days.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan has also decided to set up a Public Delivery Unit to resolve problems.

Sources said that an Officer from the federal government will be the head of the Public Delivery Unit. They said that the representation will also be given to the provinces.

Separately, the Punjab Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan will also meet the prime minister in Islamabad today, and brief him about the proposed local bodies system.
