Government of PakistanFawad pledges to make Pakistan a welfare, unbeatable force

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: As the nation is celebrating Defence and Martyrs Day on Thursday, the Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry has pledged to make Pakistan a welfare and unbeatable force.

The Defence and Martyrs Day is being celebrated to pay tribute to the martyrs and ghazis who became a rock solid wall to defend the motherland against aggression of enemy.

In his message on Defence and Martyrs Day, Fawad Chaudhry said that war of September 6, 1965 reflects unity among armed forces and the people of Pakistan for the ideology, geography and prestige of their motherland.

Fawad Chaudhry said that this is a day to remind the enemies that the armed forces and the people of Pakistan were and will always be united for the defence of the Country. He said that the martyrs who defeated the enemy, more bigger than them, are the pride of the nation.

Furthermore, he said that without resolving the Kashmir issue, the dream of sustainable peace in the region is impossible.

It was on this day in 1965 that Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan, but the nation foiled the nefarious designs of the enemy.

Earlier the Day dawned with 31 gun salute in the Federal Capital and 21 gun salute in Provincial Capitals. Special prayers were offered after Fajr prayers in mosques for progress and prosperity of the Country.

The main ceremony of the day will be held at army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi from 8 pm to 10 pm today to pay tributes to the martyrs and express gratitude with their families.

Prime Minister Imran Khan will be Chief Guest in the ceremony which will also be attended by the Army Chief, the Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Services Chiefs, Ministers, Senators, Members of National Assembly, Ambassadors, Diplomats, Military and Civilian officials and the people from various walks of life.
