Government of PakistanPakistan govt bars ministers from availing medical treatment abroad on national exchequer

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The newly formed federal government led by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Monday decided that no minister could now have medical treatment abroad upon state expenditures.

It was announced by the Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Ahmed Chaudhry while briefing the media in a Press Conference about the decision taken in the Federal Cabinet meeting held earlier in the day at the PM Office with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the Chair.

Fawad Chaudhry said the prime minister had ordered to decrease the number of foreign visits of all ministers. He said even the prime minister would not undertake any foreign tour for the initial three months, only if it was really needed.

The minister said no one other than the Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi would hold foreign tours upon state expenditures.

The information minister said two committees had been formed to overview the government properties. He said the most expensive cars would be sold out while 88 Cars of the PM House would be auctioned.

“We have decided to start accountability from the Federal Cabinet,” Fawad Chaudhry said.

The federal minister said they would not be political recruitments of any kind in any institution.

The minister said the Cabinet condemned the issue of blasphemous sketches.

In addition, he said the Federal Cabinet had decided put names of the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, his daughter Maryam Nawaz and son-in-law Captain (retd) Muhammad Safdar in Exit Control List (ECL).

The minister said sufficient measures would be taken to brought back absconders Hassan Nawaz, Hussain Nawaz and the former Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to Pakistan.

The information minister said Ishaq Dar and others should appear before the Courts and face cases. He said they would contact the British government over the issue of Avenfield properties as Avenfield was the property of Pakistan.

Furthermore, Fawad Chaudhry said there was no discussion over Pervaiz Musharraf in today’s Federal Cabinet meeting.

The minister said they would not have individual foreign policies like Nawaz-Modi; rather, he added, they would have India-Pakistan foreign policy.
