KARACHI: Two persons lost their lives while 18 others sustained wounds after a powerful blast ripped through a bus stop near People’s Chowrangi in North Nazimabad area here Tuesday night. According to sources, the blast targeted a Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s (MQM)  election camp set up in the area ahead of May 11 general elections.

The powerful blast shattered the window panes of the buildings surrounding the site of the tragic incident in Karachi – the provincial capital and commercial hub of Pakistan. Police said that initial information indicated that a motorcycle was used in the blast. The injured have been shifted to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital  where doctors say the five of the wounded are in critical condition. Police and Rangers have cordoned off the area and started search for other explosives.

Earlier, a string of bomb blasts ripped through Quetta – the provincial capital of Balochistan – killing at least two people and injuring several others.
