RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Punjab government has decided to send 5,000 school teachers abroad for training, aiming at to bring improvements in the education system.

Primary, Middle and High School teachers including both males and females will officially be sent to the United Kingdom, Australia and France, according to Daily Express.

The daily reported that in the first phase, 300 teachers, who have been categorized as ‘Star Teachers’, will be sent abroad in next two months. An approval has already been given in this regard. While rest of teachers will also be sent abroad phase-wise.

The foreign training will benefit those teachers who have produced excellent results in primary, middle and matric.

The daily further reported that an amount of Rs 3 billion will be spent annually on the project whereas the foreign training will last for 7 to 10 days.

Separately, the Punjab government has begun the rationalization in all 550 colleges across the province for scrutiny of lecturers and professors. Following the completion of rationalization, the additional teachers will be declared ‘Surplus’ and removed from service.

Meanwhile, 36 lecturers and professors of Asghar Mall College, Rawalpindi have already been removed from service after being declared ‘Surplus’.
