ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Construction of 46 new Hospitals across the Country could not kick off as yet under the Prime Minister’s Health Infrastructure Program.

Under the program, 14 Hospitals had to be built in the first phase while their Construction had to commence during the ongoing year, and reach the completion by the mid next year. However, even Feasibility Study of a single Hospital could not be carried out yet.

Sources said that in the first phase under the health infrastructure program announced by the former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, 2 Hospitals had to be constructed in Islamabad; 4 in Punjab’s Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Kot Addu, and Jhang areas; 2 in Sindh’s Sukkar and Thatta areas; 2 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Chitral and Kohat areas; 2 in Balochistan’s Quetta and Khuzdar areas; and 1 each in Azad Kashmir’s Kotli area and Gilgit Baltistan’s Gilgit area.

Whereas 32 Hospitals had to be built in three years in second and third phases, according to Daily Express.

Sources said that land had also been allocated for the construction of three Hospitals in the Federal Capital as one Hospital would be constructed on Humak Model Town Expressway, one near Kurri road and Park road, and one in I-12 Sector near Carriage Factory. For these Hospitals, 150, 200 and 200 Canal land has also been acquired respectively.

The federal government allocated Rs 8 billion for 46 new Hospitals in the budget 2017-18 while it also allocated Rs 1,3177,52,000 separately for master planning, designing, planning of medical instruments and monitoring of construction work of these Hospitals.

Sources said that recently the Central Development Working Party (CDWP) has officially approved it.
