RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: As many as 386 lecturers’ posts are lying vacant in 109 government colleges in Rawalpindi division, a situation which has severely worsen the quality of education.
According to details provided by Daily 92 News, 109 boys and girls colleges in all four districts of Rawalpindi division are facing an acute scarcity of lecturers.
The daily reported that in these colleges 890 seats of lecturers were allocated for Urdu, Statistics, Political Sciences, Physics, Mathematics, Islamiat, Chemistry and English subjects. However, 386 seats have been lying vacant for a long time; therefore, students’ performance in these subjects has not been impressive at all.
As per further details, in Urdu Subject, 56 seats of grade 17 teachers, 20 seats of grade 18, and 6 seats of grade 19 remain vacant in all colleges of Rawalpindi division. In Statistics, 21 seats of grade 17, 4 seats of grade 18, 2 seats of grade 19, and 1 seat of grade 20; while in Political Science, 17 seats of grade 17, 7 seats of grade 18, and 5 seats of grade 19 are lying vacant.
Likewise in Physics, 24 seats of grade 17, 21 seats of grade 18, 8 seats of grade 19, and 2 seats of grade 20; in Mathematics, 16 seats of grade 17, 21 seats of grade 18, 6 seats of grade 19, and 2 seats of grade 20; in Islamiat, 28 seats of grade 17, 13 seats of grade 18, and 6 seats of grade 19; in English, 20 seats of grade 17, 37 seats of grade 18, and 13 seats of grade 19; whereas in Chemistry, 28 seats of grade 17, 21 seats of grade 18, 7 seats of grade 19, and 2 seats of grade 20 are lying vacant.
The daily also reported that the Director of Education (Colleges) Rawalpindi Division has written a letter to the Higher Education Commission Department Punjab for filling the vacant seats following the complaints of students and parents.
