HealthPakistan signs eight health agreements with various countries

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The State Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Dr. Darshan has informed the Senate that the Ministry of National Health Regulations and Coordination has signed eight Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various countries to strengthen relations in the field of health.

In the question hour in the Upper House of the Parliament in Islamabad on Friday, the minister said that the MoUs have been signed during last five years with Belarus, Maldives, Seychelles, Qatar, Iran, Sri Lanka, Bahrain and Mauritius on cooperation in the field of public health and to establishment King Hamad university of Nursing and Associated Medical Sciences.

The State Minister further said that the Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) has registered about 1500 drug formulations of lifesaving with more than 70,000 registered products.

Out of these 1500 formulations, he said that around 400 registered formulations are classified as essential medicines as per World Health Organization (WHO) Essential Medicine List (EML) 2015.

To another question, the minister said that 60 percent medicines in Pakistan are cheaper as to neighboring countries.
