LAHORE, Pakistan: The Punjab government has decided to provide school bags free of cost to the students along with textbooks with purpose to motivate them towards studies.

While presiding over a departmental meeting at the committee room of school education department in Lahore, the Punjab Minister for Schools Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that provision of quality education along with necessary educational facilities in public sector schools is top priority of the provincial government.

The minister said that in the first phase of this programme, students of Prep, One, Two and Three classes will be given school bags and this programme will be started from Lahore, Toba Tek Singh, Rahim Yar Khan and Rajan Pur.

Rana Mashhood said that a three-member committee comprising of Special Secretary Schools, Programme Director of Programme Monitoring and Implementation Unit Managing Director Curriculum and Textbook Board has been constituted to finalize this programme.

The school education minister said that the school bags will be very handy and will further promote the students towards studies.

The minister said that the Punjab government is fully committed to provide congenial atmosphere to the students and the Punjab School Education Reforms Programme has proved very successful in elevating the standard of education of public sector schools in the Punjab.

The Provincial Secretary Schools Education Dr Allah Bakhsh Malik, Managing Director Punjab Curriculum & Textbook Board (PCTB) Amir Ejaz and representatives of line departments attended the meeting.
