ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: While strongly condemning the massive blast in Kabul on Wednesday morning, the Foreign Office has said that blast also inflicted minor injuries to some Pakistani diplomats and staff.

Earlier in the morning, a powerful car explosion rocked the Afghan Capital when it occurred near Foreign Embassies in Central Kabul, killing at least 80 people and causing injuries to more than 300 others.

“Pakistan strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Kabul this morning that has caused loss of precious human lives and injuries to many,” the Foreign Office said in a statement in Islamabad.

“The blast has caused damage to the residences of some Pakistani diplomats and staff, living in the close vicinity, and inflicted minor injuries to some,” it added.

The Foreign Office said that Pakistan being a victim of terrorism understands the pain and agony that such incidents inflict upon the people and society.

“The people and Government of Pakistan extend their heartfelt sympathies and deepest condolences to the Government and the people of Afghanistan and the bereaved families,” it said.

While reiterating condemnation of terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, the Foreign Office said that “We pray for early recovery of the injured.”

“We firmly stand with our Afghan brothers in this hour of grief and anguish.”

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the Kabul blast.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa also strongly condemned the blast in Kabul.

The COAS expresses grief on loss of precious lives and damage to various embassies’ infrastructure including Pakistan.

“We stand with Afghan brothers and its security forces in fight against terrorism and militancy,” he said in a statement released by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).
