Monitoring Desk: Latest resulting of polling for the first round of 2017 French presidential election start coming up and Macron and Marine Le Pen have qualified for second round.

Latest official figures from the Interior Ministry show Macron with 23.54% of votes and Le Pen with 22.33%.

Socialist Party  of Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve is ruined as people voted against it.

Security situation in France played a pivotal role in election results, providing an opportunity to protectionist Marine Le Pen to qualify for run-off vote. Macron took lead in cities with large Muslim population.

Far-right National Front head by protectionist Marine Le Pen got appropriate votes for appearing in second round of election (run-off vote) to be held on May 7, 2017.

In her speech after election results came out, Le Pen said that she would work for a Great France and would guard France from globalisation. She said that mass immigration threaten physical security of France while free economy played havoc with social and economic security of French people. She said she would only think about France and nothing less and nothing more.

11 candidates contested for second round of Presidential elections.

“Second round on May 7 will decide the fate of France because election is too close to determine anything about the fate of France”, said French media.

The fate of European Union (EU) would be determined in May 7 elections because Le Pen if becomes President would leave EU with a big smile.

Top runners were far-right National Front leader Marine Le Pen, conservative François Fillon, centrist newcomer Emmanuel Macron and far-left wildcard Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

Polling was started at Polls opened at 8 a.m local time (2 a.m. ET) on and continued till 7 p.m. As many as 67,000 polling stations were operating to cater 47 million eligible voters.

French media said that turnout in Sunday’s election was higher than expectation and this phenomenon benefited Far-right candidate because aged people were also present to vote who usually like a close and protected France.

Marine Le Pen opposes free trade, the single European currency and globalization. She has been fighting for protectionism since she entered politics in 1986.
