RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Commander Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral RC Wijegunaratne met the Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Thursday.Commander Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral RC Wijegunaratne and COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa

In a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations in Rawalpindi, it was apprised that during the meeting, regional security issues and matters of professional interest were discussed by the two dignitaries.

The ISPR said that the visiting dignitary acknowledged the sacrifices and achievements of Pakistan army in fight against terrorism and efforts for bringing peace and stability in the region.

The Sri Lankan Navy was one of the 37 Participants which took part in recently concluded multi-national naval exercise ‘Aman 2017’ organized by Pakistan Navy in the North Arabian Sea from February 9 to 13.

Moreover, the Commander Sri Lanka Navy Vice Admiral RC Wijegunaratne was the Chief Guest at the 7th International Maritime Conference and the International Bands Display and Maritime Counter Terrorism Demonstration held in parallel with the multi-national exercise ‘AMAN 2017’ on February 11.
