ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The northern areas of country will be attracting a large number of domestic tourists from across the country with start of snowfall season.

An official of Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) told APP on Tuesday that Citral, Kalam, Malamjabba, Dir, Swat, Kaghan, Naran, Shangla, Murree, Gillyat, Neelum valley, Skardu, Bagh received snowfall every year and became the centre of attraction for tourists.

35% increase in domestic tourists had been witnessed in these areas as compared to previous years due to measures taken by the government to improve law and order situation, he added.

He said that Pakistan had had great potential for adventure tourism, adding that the country had the world’s highest mountains which had a great attraction for the visitors.

He said that the country had the distinction of having five peaks above 8,000 meters each including the second loftiest mountain K-2.

Pakistan also has the largest glaciers on the globe outside the polar region, which offers tremendous attraction for adventurers.
