ISLAMABDAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on Wednesday called upon the India to come forward and work together or compete for elimination of poverty and unemployment from the region and work for the welfare of the people of the region.

Pakistan wants to have peace in the region and have no aggressive designs,” the prime minister said while addressing the Joint Session of the Parliament, adding that at the same time Pakistan is capable to address any challenge effectively.

While speaking on a motion moved by the Federal Law Minister Zahid Hamid regarding discussion on Kashmir issue including human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir and the situation arising out of Indian ceasefire violation along the Line of Control (LoC), the prime minister said that Pakistan wants to resolve all the outstanding issues with India through composite dialogue.

The prime minister said that Pakistan is a responsible state but its desire of peace should not be considered as its weakness. He said that our armed forces are capable to thwart any foreign aggression effectively. He said the whole nation stands with the armed forces for the defense of country.

Nawaz Sharif further said that the whole world is aware of the fact that despite presence of 700,000 troops, India could not suppress the voice of Kashmiris. He said that with every passing day the will of the Kashmiris is getting strength.

Sharif said that the Kashmir liberation struggle has taken a new turn after the martyrdom of Burhan Muzaffar Wani. He said that Wani’s martyrdom is a symbol of Kashmiri Intifada in the Held Territory. He said that despite grave human rights violations India cannot make the innocent Kashmiris its hostage.

The prime minister called upon the world community to play its positive role for implementation of the United Nations Security Council resolutions without any delay.

Nawaz Sharif said that that Pakistan’s relations with Kashmiris have political, religious, geographical and cultural history.

“We had made commitment to extend all possible political, diplomatic and moral support to the Kashmiris,” he said.

“We stood by our commitment in the past, continuing in the present and will continue in future with the same spirit.”

The prime minister said that the Kashmir issue is the issue of grave human rights violations by the Indian forces and peace and security of the region. He said that if the tradition of suppressing innocent people continued then the sophisticated world will be pushed back to thousands of years.

Moreover, he said that Pakistan offered for holding composite dialogue to India time and again but our efforts were always sabotaged. He said that resolution of Kashmir issue is imperative for durable peace in the region.

Nawaz Sharif further said that the government has raised voice against the Indian human rights violations at all the world fora. He said that during his address to the last session of the UN General Assembly, he demanded for investigation into human rights violations by the world bodies. He said that he also demanded release of Kashmir held in the Indian jails and lifting ban on the international movement of the Kashmir leaders.

We also demanded for the withdrawal of Indian troops from the held territory, he said that adding that the Kashmir should be granted the right of plebiscite according to the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The prime minister said that he also apprised the United Nations Secretary General and world leaders about the India atrocities in Held Kashmir. He said that the UN Secretary General strongly condemned the loss of the precious lives and said that all the issues should be resolved through composite dialogue.

Nawaz Sharif said that the foreign office briefed all the ambassadors and high commissioners of important countries about the issue. He said that on July 20, Black Day was observed in the country to express solidarity with the Kashmiris. He said that we have also appraised the United Nations Human Rights Council and Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) about the Indian brutalities. He said that we have also written letters to the United Nations Human Rights Council and permanent member of the Security Council to take notice of the human rights violations in Held Kashmir.

The prime minister said that the government is fully aware of the gravity of the situation and defending the country on diplomatic fronts. He said that in order to divert the attention of the world from Kashmir issue, India is engaged in leveling baseless allegations against Pakistan. He said that India blamed Pakistan just six hours after the Uri incident. He said that Pakistan has demanded for impartial investigation into the incident.

Sharif said that on September 28, the Indian forces resorted to unprovoked firing across the LoC by violating the ceasefire agreement. He said that two soldiers were martyred in the incident but the defence forces of the country gave a befitting response to Indian aggression.

The prime minister said that Pakistan is the biggest victim of terrorism in the world. “We have sacrificed a lot in the fight against terrorism and committed for its complete elimination,” the premier added.
