Tashkent, Uzbekistan: Official media of Uzbekistan confirmed that Father of Nation and founding President Islam Karimov has died.
He was 78 and left two daughters from second marriage and one son from his first marriage. A three-day mourning has been announced in Uzbekistan staring on September 3. State media started playing funeral music after official announcement of Karimov’s death.
State television channel said:
The multiple-organ failure was progressing however. Despite undertaken actions and all necessary medical procedures, the heart stopped pumping blood at 8.15 pm (Tashkent Time) on September 2. Resuscitation procedures were unsuccessful, the patient was pronounced dead at 8.55 pm”.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev were first to release expressed condolences after Uzbek government annoced the death officially. However, Turkish Prime Minister released condolences much before Uzbekistan officially accepted the death of his father of nation. Russian Prime Minister Medvedev will head the Russian delegation at the funeral of Karimov.

News of death was released in phases. In first phase, Uzbek government said early Friday morning that President Islam Karimov is in critical condition.
Members of Cabinet of Uzbekistan held their first meeting on Friday morning September 2, 2016 after the critical medical conditions of President Islam Karimov who had brain hemorrhage this week and the meeting decided to release the news of death of president in phases. In first phase, Cabinet released a statement that his condition was critical. Following statement was issued on early Friday:
“With a heavy heart that we inform you that in the past 24 hours the condition of our president saw a sharp deterioration and is considered critical by the doctors”.
International media and Fargana Valley based newspapers claimed on last Saturday that Karimov was dead but Uzbek government denied the story.
Uzbekistan could not hide this news anymore after Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim released condolence in international media.
Uzbekistan can face serious economical and administrative issues after the death of its founding President and Father of Nation Islam Karimov to run this landlocked Central Asian state.
According to unofficial information, Karimov spent his childhood in a very poor family and was sent to orphanage of Samarkand during world war II. was born on 30 January 1938 in Samarkand. He was one of top students of orphanage and government school of Samarkand. He got higher degrees in economics and engineering. Karimov loved his motherland as a real mother and devoted his whole life to his country selflessly.
Communist system allowed him to reach at the level of First Secretary Uzbek Communist Party in just 40 years. He became President of the Uzbek Soviet Socialist Republic on 24 March 1990. He was known for his zero tolerance against those who could defy orders of the State and he crushed inter-ethnic clashes and instability in the Fergana Region just after becoming Uzbek Presidency.
Crumbling of former Soviet Union system gave a chance to Islam Karimov to proclaim Independence from Kremlin rulers and he declared Uzbekistan as an independent nation on 31 August 1991. He was elected first president of Uzbekistan on 29 December 1991. Since then, re ruled the country.
He had a will to bury in his native town—Samarkand and since last night streets of Samarkand had this news that dead body of Karimov could arrive anytime.
