ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: President Mamnoon Hussain on Monday underlined the need for increasing bilateral trade between Pakistan and Bangladesh to further cement bilateral relations.

In a meeting with the Pakistan’s High Commissioner-designate to Bangladesh Rafiuzzaman Siddiqui at the Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad on Monday, the president said that Pakistan enjoys brotherly relations with Bangladesh, adding that Pakistan is desirous to have cordial relations with all its neighbouring countries.

The president urged the ambassador-designate to go beyond the confines of traditional diplomacy to further strengthen relations with Bangladesh. He said that the two countries need to move forward and strengthen bilateral relations by promoting parliamentary and people to people contacts.

President Mamnoon said that it is the responsibility of Pakistani diplomats to encourage foreign investors to invest in Pakistan.

Mamnoon Hussain noted that law and order situation in the country has improved as a result of operation Zarb-e-Azb and actions against terrorist across the country.

The president said that in order to complement the efforts of the diplomats, the government has nominated members of parliament to highlight the issue of occupied Kashmir at the international level adding that Pakistan fully supports the right of self-determination of the Kashmiris and condemns the ongoing atrocities being committed by Indian security forces in the Indian-held Kashmir.

Moreover, he hoped that during the tenure of ambassador-designate, the bilateral relations between Pakistan and Bangladesh would further strengthen.
