Government of PakistanPakistan to continue moral, political support to Kashmir movement: PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that Pakistan would continue to extend its moral, diplomatic and political support to the freedom movement of Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK).

In a meeting with newly elected President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir Masood Khan, the Prime Minister expressed confidence that he would advocate the Kashmir cause.

“Now you also have a larger platform to better advocate the freedom cause of the people of Indian Occupied Kashmir,” the Prime Minister told Masood Khan, also a former career diplomat who performed responsibilities as Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to United Nations as well.

The Prime Minister congratulated Masood Khan on his election, and expressed hope that the newly elected President would utilize his vast experience for the well-being of the people of AJK.

“Your present constitutional responsibilities are much larger than the duties you performed during your professional career. We expect that you guide the elected government towards achieving better governance, strengthening of institutions and improving the socio-economic conditions of the people of AJK,” the Prime Minister added.

The Prime Minister said he believed that the office of President AJK would steer the elected government led by Raja Farooq Haider in bringing reforms in the crucial sectors of health and education.

The Prime Minister said Federal government would extend its maximum support to the Government of AJK in its endeavours to serve the people of AJK.

“We strongly believe in serving the people and will extend our developmental agenda to AJK as well,” he said.

Masood Khan said he would use his energies and experiences for the betterment of the people of AJK.

“I am immensely grateful for reposing the great trust in myself by your party. I will leave no stone unturned to help the government of AJK to perform according to your vision and policies,” said the AJK President.
