Mumbai: At least 31 dead bodies have been recovered under the debris of the building while 60 people are injured including 5 seriously. Dead include 8 children. The building was constructed illegally by Mumbai land mafia with the support of local authorities, claim local people.

The building was built illegally and without any design and approval from authorities, said local police officials. Workers were also adding four more floors and had finished three before the building fell down. The injured were rushed various hospitals including Thane Civil, CSM Civic hospital at Kalwa, Kalsekar hospital in Kalwa, while those in critical condition are shifted to Sion and JJ Hospital.

When contacted by the Dispatch News Desk (DND),  Deputy Commissioner of Mumbai Manoj Gohad claimed that the building in the Shil Dhaigar locality was unauthorised and was occupied up to the fourth floor but he refrained from answering that how this huge building was constructed illegally and who local authorities did not stop its construction.
