PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Iqbal Zafar Jhagra on Tuesday emphasized that higher education institutions should focus on research adding that research based education was the key to success.

In his address at the 20th Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Institute of Management Sciences at Governor’s House in Peshawar Tuesday, the governor said that all out efforts were being made to provide the better education facilities to our youth.

Iqbal Zafar Jhagra further said that indeed a market demand based strategy can be the best option in making Institute of Management Sciences a goal oriented in real terms. He said that knowledge and research was the main step for the development of any nation and education is essential for achieving a respectable position in the world.

The Board was informed that the Institute has 42 Ph.D faculty members including 28 PhD scholars and Teaching staff of the institute will be doubled after the completion of the Degrees of the Ph.D Scholars.

The meeting was further informed that the institute is availing the advantage of linkages with institutions of international repute including the four UK based universities.

Meanwhile, Dr. Muhammad Mohsin apprising the Board about the prevailing state of working of the institution as well as its future requirements said that their entire system administrative, financial management and examination systems are electronic governance based and they are engaged in the continuous process of bringing further improvement in all sphere of the academic environment at the campus.

Dr. Muhammad Mohsin also thanked the governor as well as the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for extending due patronage to the Institute. The Board of Governors also approved the budget for the year 2015-16.

Beside others, the special assistant to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghani, Principal Secretary to Governor, Sikandar Qayyum, Secretary Finance, President Chamber of Commerce, Director IM Sciences Muhammad Mohsin Khan and Vice Chancellor of the University of Peshawar also attended the meeting.
