ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: Minister for Finance Senator Muhammad Ishaq Dar said on Thursday that the  government has no intent to go for another International Monetary Fund (IMF) Programme, after it conclusion in September 2016.

“The twelfth and the last review would be concluded in September 2016 and Pakistan would get around US $ 500 million and then government would not need to go for another programme with the fund”, he said while launching Pakistan Economic Survey for outgoing Financial Year 2015-16 here at “P” block auditorium on Thursday afternoon.

The finance Minister further informed that next review with IMF under Extended Fund Facility (EFF) would start in August 2016 and hoped that dependency on IMF would also end.

The finance Minister said that with the prayers of the people and the support of the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, the government in three years has achieved economic stabilization.

“If I have not support from the Prime Minister we should have slipped from the reforms agenda”, he remarked.

Replying to a question, the Minister said that it was his desire that three organizations i.e, State Bank of Pakistan (SBP), Former Corporate Law Authority (CLA now SECP) and Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) should get autonomy to perform the economy properly adding said that now all these organization were functioning independently.
