ISLAMABAD, Pakistan: The Pakistan International Airline (PIA)’s cargo system had witnessed a decline in revenue generation from Rs 6449.74 million to Rs 3877.91 million since 2006.

A document issued by Aviation Division revealed that PIA Cargo system for International and domestic constantly decreased its revenue during the said period.

The Cargo system generated only Rs 3877.91 million in 2015, Rs. 4679.88 in 2014, Rs 6347.91 in 2013, Rs 6862.89 in 2012, Rs 6967,66 in 2011 and Rs 7130.68 million in 2010.

Likewise, it generated Rs 6148.24 in 2009, Rs 6417.94 in 2008, Rs. 5852.68 in 2007 and Rs 6449.74 million in 2006.

According to the document the decline was witnessed due to implementation of ACC3 regulations by EU in 2014, narrow body operation especially on Pak-Gulf/KSA sectors where lot of demand for perishable commodity have, discontinuation of dedicated freighters and increase in competitors’ capacity.
