RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif said on Wednesday that terrorists are being funded externally by hostile intelligence agencies and have their sympathizers at home who provide them shelter and refuge.

“We will defeat the nefarious designs of our enemies and eliminate terrorists from Pakistan’s soil,” he reiterated while presiding over the Corps Commanders Conference in Rawalpindi on Wednesday.

The meeting took a holistic review of internal and regional security situation including reconciliation in Afghanistan and security of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

The participants also discussed the importance of timely and dignified return of temporarily displaced persons (TDPs).

The COAS reiterated that all efforts and resources will be employed to bring about lasting stability and socio economic revival for prosperity and well being of displaced people of affected areas.

While speaking to the forum, the COAS said that Pakistan has achieved significant successes in operation Zarb-e-Azb but this war against terrorism is complex, requires steadfast and unified response.

The COAS said that “resilience of whole Nation and professionalism of our security forces are our real assets and I am optimistic that we will succeed in bringing enduring peace in Pakistan.”
