RAWALPINDI, Pakistan: The Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif presided over the Corps Commanders Conference which was given comprehensive briefings on internal and external security situation of the country at the army’s general headquarters in Rawalpindi on Tuesday.

In a press release issued here by the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), it was informed that participants of the conference also took holistic view of the emerging geo strategic environment and its relevance to security of Pakistan.

While recounting successes of the military operation Zarb-e-Azb, participants of the conference also expressed their solidarity with bereaved families and paid rich tributes to the sacrifices of Army Public School (APS) Peshawar Shuhada who laid their lives in a tragic terrorist act on December 16, 2014.

“We will continue to pursue efforts to consolidate our gains to make them sustainable, which will be a befitting tribute to all the Shuhada and wounded,” the COAS said remembering all Shuhada and wounded of terrorism for their great sacrifices for the motherland.

The first anniversary of the terrorist attack on APS Peshawar is being observed across the country on Wednesday. In this regard, various ceremonies will be held in different parts of the country to pay homage to martyred students and staff members of Army Public School.

It was on this day last year when a group of terrorists attacked the army-run school in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Capital and martyred nearly 150 people including 132 students of the school.
