KARACHI, Pakistan: Unknown assailants gunned down three Rangers personnel and injured another in Baldia Itehad Town in Karachi on Friday.
Talking to media, the Director General Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar told that the assailants wanted to attack a mosque but they saw Rangers, they opened fire at their Check Post located nearby.
Resultantly, three Rangers personnel lost their lives while another sustained injuries.
The DG Rangers told that the assailants were riding a motorcycle.
Meanwhile in a statement, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif condemning the assassination of Rangers’ Jawans in Karachi said that the martyrdom of our Jawans will strengthen our resolve to fight this battle against terrorism.
“The martyrdom of our brave civil armed forces’ officers by terrorists is just brutal terrorism. These Brave Jawans gave their lives in the line of duty,” the prime Minister said.
“My prayers are with the bereaved family,” he added.
Rangers accompanied by police are heading an operation since September 2013 in Karachi against target killers, extortionists and terrorists. The Karachi operation has helped to a great extent in restoring law and order situation in the City which once had become a difficult place to live in.
