Regional Terrorism150 Boko Haram militants killed in Nigeria’s northeast: army claims

LAGOS: The Nigerian military on Wednesday claimed to have killed about 150 militants in a military strike on a Boko Haram camp in the country’s restive northeast on September 12.

“It was a highly fortified insurgent camp with heavy weapons in Borno State,” the army spokesman Ibrahim Attahiru said on Wednesday, adding that the camp was in the Kasiya forest.

“The army raided the camp on September 12. Some 150 Boko Haram terrorists were killed, while the military lost 16 soldiers. Nine soldiers are still missing,” he said.

The strike was carried out in response to a deadly ambush by the militants earlier this month which killed 40 Nigerian soldiers and left dozens of others missing
