LAHORE, Pakistan: The former President and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has reiterated his support for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and said that the ongoing protests are damaging the country’s economy.

This was stated by the federal minister for planning and development Ahsan Iqbal while addressing a press conference after the former president held a meeting with the prime minister for lunch at the premier’s Raiwind residence on Saturday afternoon.

The minister said that the former president has called for a solution of the prevailing political crises within the parameters of the constitution.

Zardari has also fully supported the government’s efforts to uphold the constitution, Iqbal said.
