KABUL: Afghanistan has said that the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb launched against militants in the North Waziristan tribal region is not acceptable to Kabul as the Pakistan army is not going after the Afghan Taliban and the Haqqani network in the operation.
In a news conference in Kabul on Monday, the Afghanistan’s foreign ministry spokesman Shakib Ahmad Mustaghni accused the Pakistan army of targeting only local fighters and not chasing the Afghan militants during the ongoing offensive.
The spokesman also accused Pakistan of being involved in recent unrest and insurgent activities in Afghanistan.
Mustaghni said that over the past 13 years, his ministry had been striving to resolve ticklish problems including terrorism and extremism through diplomatic channels. But, he said, such efforts have yielded no results.
“As per information from our security officials, Pakistan has been involved in recent unrest and insurgent activities in various parts of the country,” Mustaghni further said, hoping Islamabad would stop meddling in Kabul’s internal affairs.
