Moscow, Russia: Afghan government has refused to attend Afghan Peace Conference which will be held in Moscow on September 4, 2018.

Afghan Taliban have confirmed their participation in the conference.

United States will also not attend the conference which is a part of Afghan peace process initiated by Russia.

According to available information, peace talks in Moscow will start on September 4 which will be attended by representative of over 12 countries including China, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and India.

Afghan Taliban have confirmed their attendance stating that they want peace in Afghanistan.

It is pertinent to mention that Afghan Taliban were invited last year by Russia in Afghan Peace Conference but they regretted to attend the conference when Afghan government sent a low ranking delegation for talks.

“This time Afghan Taliban want to tell world that they are ready for peace but Afghan government is running from talks”, said Agha Iqrar Haroon, a regional political and Development observer and senior journalist from Pakistan who covered Afghan war during 90s when he was asked to comment.

It may be mentioned that Afghan Taliban attended a peace initiative taken by Uzbek President recently and reached Tashkent from Doha for peace talks.

Neighbouring countries of Afghanistan are actively trying to bring peace in Kabul because their connectivity to South Asia is halted by 41 year old civil war in Afghanistan and there is high risk to spread terrorism in Central Asia as Islamic State which is also known as “Daesh” is building itself in Afghanistan after moving from Middle East.

Extensive war had been going at Tajik-Afghan border since last two years and vulnerability of Central Asian States is increasing as Afghan Taliban and Daesh fighters are pushing their operations towards Afghan-Uzbek, Afghan-Tajik and Afghan-Turkmen borders.

Meanwhile, Russia has again raised question about who is behind those flights, which provides weapons to Daesh terrorists present close to the southern borders of the CIS countries.

“We draw attention again to the flights of unidentified helicopters in the north of Afghanistan, delivering weapons and ammunition to local Daesh militants and Taliban* fighters, who are cooperating with the Daesh* terrorist group. According to the statements by the Afghan media and local residents, such flights have recently been recorded in the province of Sari-Pul,” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Thursday, reports Sputnik News Agency.
