Islamabad, Pakistan: Alisher Tukhtaev, the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Pakistan, has said that under the leadership of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, the two countries are writing a new chapter in bilateral relations, as both believe that Pakistan and Uzbekistan share a common future.
In a meeting held on Wednesday at the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Islamabad—attended by Hamid Mahmood Chaudhary, Tourism Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Pakistan; Ali Raza Alvi, Director Diplomatic and Global Affairs at APP News Agency; and Agha Iqrar Haroon, Director/Chief Editor of Dispatch News Desk (DND) News Agency, the Ambassador emphasized that media can play a pivotal role in strengthening ties between Pakistan and Uzbekistan by promoting their historic, linguistic, and cultural similarities.
While appreciating the efforts of Ambassador Tukhtaev, Chief Editor of DND News Agency Islamabad, Agha Iqrar Haroon, lauded the Ambassador’s instrumental role in deepening bilateral relations. Haroon noted that since taking charge, Ambassador Tukhtaev’s tenure has been marked by a strong commitment to economic integration, trade expansion, and cultural exchange. He added that the Ambassador has played a key role in identifying new avenues of collaboration in media, cultural integration, industrial cooperation, banking and finance, transport, logistics, and trade facilitation.
During the meeting, Hamid Mahmood Chaudhary, Tourism Ambassador of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, stated that Ambassador Tukhtaev has been highly proactive in public diplomacy and has worked extensively to promote Uzbekistan through tourism and cultural engagement. He praised the Ambassador’s efforts in easing business opportunities and expanding tourism between the two countries. Ambassador Tukhtaev also appreciated Hamid Mahmood’s dedicated efforts in promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism products in Pakistan and arranging tours for thousands of Pakistani families, thereby strengthening people-to-people connections.
Ali Raza Alvi, Director Diplomatic and Global Affairs at APP News Agency, offered the support of the state-run agency to promote Uzbekistan in Pakistan’s media landscape. He noted that Ambassador Tukhtaev has been equally influential in encouraging Pakistani companies to explore investment opportunities in Uzbekistan and in advocating for joint production ventures across various sectors. He reiterated that media can play a central role in building broad-based connections between the two cultures.
After the meeting, Hamid Mahmood Chaudhary presented a book by Dr. Shazia Anwer Cheema, titled “An Introduction to European Theatre: History of Performing Arts from the Greek Period to the 20th Century”, to Ambassador Alisher Tukhtaev.
It is worth mentioning that Ambassador Tukhtaev’s diplomatic efforts have not only strengthened economic ties but also fostered cultural understanding and a shared vision between Uzbekistan and Pakistan. His tenure marks a new era in bilateral relations, focused on building a resilient and mutually beneficial partnership.
