Lahore: Government of Punjab has announced Basanat festival in Lahore after 5 years. The festival which used to generate earnings of 5 billion rupees every year was banned by the Former chief Minister Punjab.

According to sources Punjab Government has not instructed law enforcement authorities to get prepared for the event by which it seems that Caretaker CM Sethi has bowed before the Pressure against the Basant Festival
Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Najam Sethi has said that Basant celebrations are not possible this year in Lahore.
Najam Sethi said in a Twitter message this midnight that he tried hard for allowing Basant celebrations but due to some legal hurdles, he is unable to permit this year.
Earlier, Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister raised hope amongst Basant lovers that he would try to allow celebrations for that very soon.
Many turned worry of dangers linked with bulk of kite flying, after Najam Sethi’s announcement while a couple of those moved court to stop him.
All were waiting eagerly for Najam Sethi’s final decision and announcement for celebrations of Basant but their hopes have expired now, after his latest message of legal problems on Twitter
