PESHAWAR, Pakistan: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has extended the Health Emergency across the province for another three months due to the transmission of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which poses a serious and imminent threat to public health.

The Country’s northwestern province has recorded the third highest fatalities in Pakistan from Coronavirus.

So far, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province has detected 10,485 COVID-19 Cases, and 482 deaths. While a total of 2,973 patients have been recovered now of the disease.

The last three days witnessed the highest number of Coronavirus Cases in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as on June 30 it recorded 473 new Cases, on June 31 it recorded 458 new Cases whereas on June 1, 458 new Cases emerged.KPK health emergency - The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has extended the Health Emergency across the province for another three months due to the transmission of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic which poses a serious and imminent threat to public health. The Provincial Health Department declared the state of emergency in exercise of powers conferred under Section 3 of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Epidemic Control and Emergency Relief Ordinance, 2020 (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ord. No XI of 2020). “The emergency shall be for a period of ninety (90) days commencing from 12th of May, 2020 and shall continue till the 10th of August, 2020, in order to continue with the earlier arrangement with regards to the control of COVID-19 pandemic,” said the notification issued on Monday. Earlier in March, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government had extended the health emergency till June 1, 2020 in view of the Coronavirus outbreak.

The Provincial Health Department declared the state of emergency in exercise of powers conferred under Section 3 of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Epidemic Control and Emergency Relief Ordinance, 2020 (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ord. No XI of 2020).
