CHAMAN: At least one person was killed and 22 others including five policemen injured in two blasts which occurred in Balochistan’s Chaman area on Thursday, police said.

The first blast occurred when an explosive device planted on a motorcycle went off on Trench Road in Balochistan’s Chaman area, killing at least one person and injuring 17 others.

Police said that the bomb was planted on a motorcycle which was parked outside a bank. They said that several shops and vehicles were also damaged in the blast.

The second blast took place when Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) officials were trying to defuse a bomb planted on a motorcycle near Tehsil Kacheri. Five policemen including the SHO were injured in the blast, while one policeman is reportedly in a serious condition.

The injured were rushed to the nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Security forces cordoned off the areas and began a search operation as investigations into the incidents went underway.
